Academic libraries are finding ways of becoming more relevant in the 21st century. With technology and online resources, such as eBooks, open access and digital collections, a librarian needs to understand the challenges and develop into a more flexible resource for their customers. This article discusses the top 10 challenges academic librarians face and helps to offer some insight as to what others are doing to overcome these challenges.
This article is straightforward, to the point, and a quick read. It outlines the 10 most challenges facing academic libraries and what some are doing to move forward to help overcome these challenges. It reiterates what I have been learning in the MLIS program at San Jose State and gives statistics and data on how different age levels learn differently and what we as librarians can do to accommodate them.
